Grand Challenges Canada Announces New Funding Round

In its Round 9 funding call, Grand Challenges Canada seeks bold ideas for products, services and implementation models that could transform how persistent challenges in reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH) are addressed in low- and middle-income countries.

Funded by the Government of Canada, Grand Challenges Canada is interested in innovations that 1) improve RMNCH in humanitarian contexts, notably among internally displaced and refugee populations, and 2) improve sexual and reproductive health and rights of women and girls, so that they are empowered and have greater influence over their lives and futures.

Up to 70 seed grants valued up to CAD $100,000 each to develop and test proposed innovations will be awarded.  It is expected that two thirds of the winning applications will be submitted from low- and middle-income countries and one third from institutions based in Canada.  The application submission deadline is 3:00 EDT, August 3, 2017.
