International Universal Health Coverage Day 2021

The overall goal of contraceptive R&D is to expand desirable, affordable, quality, voluntary contraceptive options to better meet the needs of current and future family planning users globally and this year the CTI Exchange has been exploring how contraceptive researchers and developers can better incorporate considerations for acceptability, affordability, accessibility and equity earlier and more fully in this R&D process. One essential element to ensuring equitable access to the contraceptive methods we develop is Universal Health Coverage (UHC). On December 12, 2021 the family planning community will commemorate International UHC Day under the theme "Leave no one’s health behind: Invest in health systems for all." Organizations globally will mark the day with events and commitments which are summarized on the UHC day website. A few key events include:

  • Advocating for Gender Rights Through Self-Care for UHC hosted by the Self-Care Trailblazer Group (SCTG) on Thurs, December 9 at 2-4PM UTC. Register here.

  • The Pulse with Dr T., Family Planning for All: A Universal Health Coverage Day Chat hosed by the International Conference on Family Planning on Thus, December 9 at 1:30pm GMT. Register here.
