The Male Contraception Initiative (MCI) will fund four research teams working to develop a new reversible non-hormonal birth control pill for men. Principal investigators include Dr. Patricia Cuasnicủ of the Institute of Biology and Experimental Medicine-National Research Council, Argentina; Dr. Gunda Georg of the University of Minnesota’s Institute for Therapeutics Discovery and Development; Dr. Wei Yan of the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine; and Dr. Sabatino Ventura of the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Parkville, Australia. Project teams will use the MCI seed money ($150,000 over two years) to conduct early-stage research on several male, non-hormonal contraceptive targets.
