The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) has reissued its U-54 funding call to support the scientific agenda of one or two contraceptive research centers. NICHD seeks applicants that take a multi-disciplinary approach to developing or refining a male or female contraceptive; winning entrants will propose a portfolio that integrates at least two biomedical product development projects with related behavioral or translational research.
Topics of high program priority for NICHD are
1) development of a male or female contraceptive based on non-steroidal action and
2) pre-coital, on-demand contraception.
Applicants are asked to propose four-year budgets with annual direct costs not exceeding $1.3 million. Electronic submission of applications is due by 5:00 PM, January 9, 2018.
